ELIZABETH DRURY

Akara Contemporary

Elizabeth Drury is a British artist living and working in London. There is certain care with which Drury controls every element that she lets into her frame. When casting light upon her chosen objects, she will look for a particular texture or shadow, working to accentuate it. Rather like a painter, the possibility for illusion is Drury’s palette, and the work is entirely set in potentials. Drury is able to charm the objects into movement through her retelling of the scene.
Working primarily within the drawing medium, Elizabeth has exhibited frequently across the UK since 2012. She graduated in 2014 with a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Applied Arts from the University of the West of England and was awarded the Nigel Kingslake-Jones Prize for drawing. In 2017, she graduated with a Masters in Painting from the Royal College of Art where she was selected for the Travers Smith Award Programme.
