SAANTHIA BULCHANDANI
Akara Contemporary
1998
Saanthia Bulchandani (b.1998, Mumbai, India) is a visual artist. Her approach is largely figurative, and her current practice explores the liminality between loneliness and solitude through intimate monochrome drawings and ink paintings. In her works, she draws from a range of subject matter including portraits of friends and strangers, domestic spaces, and interior patterns, typically highlighting the subject matter’s interaction and relationships with the space that they are in. Her artwork explores the idea an imagined third place, where everyone, regardless of their emotional state, background or story is welcome to meet, heal, and be loved. She received her BA from Wellesley College in 2021, where her studies of South Asian History and the subaltern have had a significant influence on her work.
Currently she is pursuing MFA in Painting at the Camberwell College, UAL, London
